So, that’s the MAG Beta underway, just in time for a massive and hopefully technically jaw-dropping live demo at Gamescom. It’s all locked away and we need to strictly limit the information flow (from our site, at least) but we can say that although the download is just under 300MB, there’s already a rather hefty (2GB) patch taking the game up to version 1.10.

The important bit is that MAG Beta testers will take part in a huge event during Gamescom, because the game will be playable on the show floor from Wednesday onwards and gamers at the Cologne show will be able play live with those lucky enough to already have the download.

Zipper are keen to point out that the Beta doesn’t represent the quality of the final game, and while the Beta is currently limited to week days (at certain hours) if you’re in the Beta think yourselves lucky and make sure you feedback as much detailed information as you can, and thus hopefully prevent another ‘Fat Princess’ at launch…

So far no....controls can not be altered. there is a VERY steep learning curve.

MAG Beta Update!

MAG Beta version 1.11 will be released on Wednesday, September 2nd, at 2pm PDT. At this time, we will also be clearing the database and deleting all characters in order to make room and level the playing field for the S.V.E.R. PMC who is joining the action.

SERVER HOURS
Monday, August 31st: 10am-1pm PDT, 5pm-8pm PDT
Tuesday, September 1st: 10am-1pm PDT, 5pm-9:30pm PDT
Wednesday, September 2nd: 10am-1pm PDT, 5pm-8pm PDT
Thursday, September 3rd: 10am-1pm, PDT 5pm-8pm PDT
Friday, September 4: 8:30am-9pm PDT
Saturday, September 5: 10am-6pm PDT
Sunday, September 6: 10am-6pm PDT

The server hours are being extended this week for the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX).

For the Wednesday evening PDT play session, we are enabling the S.V.E.R. Private Army and unlocking the Absheron Refinery 256 player Domination level. You and 127 allies will be battling against 128 opponents in this 256 player S.V.E.R. controlled area. We are planning on showing off the 256 Player mission at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) this weekend and invite you to join us!

Major issues addressed in the MAG Beta 1.11 patch include:

* The long black screen delay after the end of the round has been fixed.
* S.V.E.R. Private Army is now enabled in the User Interface
* Absheron Refinery is now unlocked and ready for action
* We made some adjustments to the vehicle controls
* Experience distribution and character progression tuning
* Significant framerate improvements
* Some weapon damages are adjusted
* Fixes to the matchmaking system
* Grenade throwing animation is fixed
* Defensive Emplacement rockets no longer bounce off of objects
* All projectile damages have been adjusted
* Escort vehicle will properly reset if destroyed while still in escort container
* Moved Charlie static and Bravo alternate spawns up to clear sloped terrain in Copper Hills Relay

This will be your last chance to play MAG in this phase of the MAG Beta. After Sunday, September 6th, the MAG Beta servers will be going offline in order to prepare for the next phase of the MAG Beta. More details on the next phase of the MAG Beta will be announced soon, but as participants in this phase of the MAG Beta you will automatically be rolled over into the next phase once it starts.

Thanks again for continuing to provide valuable feedback!

See you in game!
The MAG Team
