Playing as cyborg ninja Raiden for the whole game would stink. The star of the Metal Gear series has always bee Snake. I know, MGS 2 was Raiden (pre-cyborg stage) and it was s#%t-- a novelty best and a weak segue to Snake Eater. However, playing as cyborg Raiden once or twice through the game {[starring (a) Snake] probably BigBoss} wouldn't be half bad... if those Raiden missions were Snake-specific-support-esque.

My history of Metal Gear is a bit hazy right now but... Didn't we already play as Big Boss? I'm thinking it was MGS3 (Big Boss v. Boss, right?), but it may have been back in the good old Metal Gear days, though I just can't remember presently.

Having said all of that, MGS3 was, of sorts, a prequel and I really wouldn't mind having the story's gaps filled and I look forward to the next installment. Also, it's safe to say the next Metal Gear game will be a PS3 exclusive, which is great.

Don't ask me to sort out the details of the Metal Gear series. I only know what I remember from the games. I never really payed attention to the stories too closely back in the 8-bit MG days as I was just a youngster but the MGS series from PS1 and up (not including the PSP and GameCube games)... well I get the general plot.

MGS was a prequel, you did play as Big Boss. it was pretty much how he came to be Big Boss. I honestly loved MGS3, and wouldn't mind another prequel where you took command of Big Boss again. If it ends up alternating between Raiden and Big Boss, i'll prob still get it, so long as the majority of play time you aren't stuck being raiden, even if its his ninja cyborg version.

Aside from the nostalgia factor of MGS1, I think that MGS3 was my favorite of the series for two reasons: playing as Big Boss and the time period. I would LOVE to go back and play some more of the back-story, but I wonder how Kojima could combine the old perspective of Big Boss with the new one of Raiden. It would be very interesting, to say the least.

i kinda like cyborg Raiden. but then again maybe thats cause Gray Fox was so goddamn awesome

I'm curious as how different this game will be compared to all the others. Unlike the other MGS games that say "Tactical Espionage Action", this one says "Lightning Bolt Action".
