I think there's a lot of potential for online, but it's not fun online game when thee are only a few people (>6 people isn't really too fun). Also, this particular online game (just like WRHK) requires, no... demands the use of a headset. It's not too fun when you can't tell your team "I not sitting idle, I'm just setting a waypoint on my map! No, don't get out!" and then they all bail and get a new cars. That's the other thing. Playing this game online is really fun, but it's most enjoyable when you are working together as a team, even if you're just teamed up with one other person. So, I guess you really need a minimum of 8 people to have a really good time, unless if it's a death match (DM), in which case 6 or 7 is alright until more people join.

Online Character Model
Your model is the character you'll see online most of the time except for game modes such as Cops n' Crooks (sometimes you're a cop wearing an LCPD uniform) and the Mafia and Team Mafia (in which you'll randomly appear as the mafia "Boss" in a cheap suit. I've played about 1/2 (half) of the online game modes, so I'll update this after I get around to the rest, which will be soon.

Leveling Up
There's a level system (big shocker). I haven't really studied online stats so much, as I've been more interested in actually playing it and having a good time. But I can tell you that you unlock more character clothes as you progress, just like in WRHK, but without the huge chunk of time being invested. It doesn't happen very fast, but it a lot better than WRHK's method so far.

The online in this game is awesome. at least thats what i would say i it worked right. You'd have better luck winning the lottery than getting to the multiplayer menu without having the game crash, and then once I do it usually crashed 5 minutes in to the match. Hope that gets fixed (I have a 60gig launch system, which seems to be the main offender)

It is fun when you get enough people. I love how they kept all the traffic and pedestrians in the online modes, love seeing people scatter as an rpg comes whizzing down the street lol

Is anyone of you having the freezing issue?

i get it alot when im signed into PSN. disabling my internet connection fixes all single player freezes

Ok, the online works for me now. Cops and Crooks is freakin awesome! anyway, it seems like whenever i quit the game and go back to the xmb, it resets my online rank, also when i got to network under the stats tab, it just says no scores found, weird cause i've probably spent at least 3 hours online. anybody else have this problem?

very disapointed so i was kickin some ass today. i was like holy shit i am getting better or these guys really suck. i only needed like $400 to level up and the system locked up this sucks i lost it all

Meant to ask you guys when we played on Saturday, what was up with thoes underwear Zombie skins you guys had? at first i was like wtf underwear? thats awesome. then i got close and was like WTF ZOMBIES IN UNDERWEAR!!??? LMAO

Finally got the game. Will not be playing online for a while till I get better with the controls.

Haha, yeah. You unlock the zombie skin at level 2 I think. Either that, or you have to defeat a R* team member. Select player model on your cell phone, hit L1 and you should have a zombie on your screen. Word is, when you hit Lv10, you get a nude skin for your "live" character.
